This course is designed to provide a basic overview of current business and information systems and trends, and to introduce students to fundamental skills required for today’s business and academic environments. Emphasis is placed on developing fundamental computer skills. The intention of this course is to prepare students to be successful both personally and professionally in an information based society. Digital Information Technology includes the exploration and use of: databases, the internet, spreadsheets, presentation applications, management of personal information and email, word processing and document manipulation, HTML, web page design, and the integration of these programs using software that meets industry standards. After successful completion of this core course, students will have met Occupational Completion Point A, Information Technology Assistant – SOC Code 15-1151 and high school practical arts credit or online course credit requirement.
Microsoft Office applications are integral to the implementation of the course and used with multiple digital devices including smartphones.

Grading Information:
Projects/Labs = 30%
Classwork/Online Journal = 30%
Lesson Tests/Quizzes = 30%
Keyboarding = 10%
Industry Certification Final Exam
Class Expectations:
Follow directions first time given.
Sit at your assigned computer station each day and get started on your keyboarding warm-up.
Respect lab equipment.
Be responsible for your own learning.
Be respectful to your peers and their learning.
Students are responsible for maintaining all assignments electronically. No exceptions.
High School Credit Requirement:
This is a secondary credit course and the curriculum is challenging. Students should work hard and try not to fall behind. The coursework is available online and students may access the curriculum anytime and anywhere with a browser to reinforce skills. It is recommended students pass DIT with an “A” to use the course for high school credit.
